Alexander was born in Madrid, Spain, to Spanish woman Begoña Jones-Fernandez, and American Kelvin Jones. He had been one of the kids found as a firebender since his parents where also benders, but the rest of the world didn't know about benders. Alex had manifested his powers at birth but hadn't learned to control them and is parents had give up trying to teach him so they sent an application for the Bending academy.
